Position: Central America Manager

Location: Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica

You are a passionate, dynamic and highly motivated Central America Manager who will execute a management strategy that will meet the needs of our fast-growing travel company. 

You will use a proactive approach to manage the Trip Leaders in the region in their successful tour operation from start to finish. This includes all aspects of Trip Leaders performance management, input on scheduling, recruiting, onboarding and ongoing training.  

Responsibilities:

  • Review, manage and report on Trip Leaders’ performance using traveller evaluations and communicate it clearly to management.
  • Responsible for the ongoing management of Trip Leader scheduling.
  • Be the voice of all U30X related communication to Trip Leaders in the region and the main contact for Trip Leaders’ programs and initiatives.
  • Trip Leader training.
  • Management of the recruitment process including predicting when new Trip Leaders will be required.
  • Be an ambassador of the Under30Experiences community and lead by example to Trip Leaders.
  • Mentor, coach and encourage Trip Leaders throughout their career and difficult situations.
  • Support the Trip Leaders for on-tour and post-tour issues, investigating, collaborating and communicating with the Trip Leaders to manage situations as effectively as possible and bring them to resolution.
  • Add new trips to our calendar and make reservations at hotels
  • Inform Sales team about new inventory and communicate with Marketing team to add trips to website
  • Manage inventory and handle last-minute traveler additions and cancellations
  • Communicate flight information to Sales team (when our travelers need to arrive and depart)
  • Ensure itineraries on our website are updated with 100% accuracy
  • Manage vendor relationships and bookings including transportation and outdoor activities
  • Create Facebook Groups for each trip and ensure Trip Leaders are answering traveler's questions
  • Make payments to vendors and ensure office and staff house bills are paid and facilities are in good, clean, working order
  • Recruit, Interview, Train, Manage, and Retain Trip Leaders
  • Give feedback and hold one on one / team meetings with Staff
  • Act as an emergency contact for all Trip Leaders of the region
  • Help Trip Leaders in the solution of difficult situations that might come up during a trip
  • Identify areas of growth
  • Look for new areas for product development and new trips
  • New hotels, further negotiations, new vendors
  • Constantly review budgets for ways to save money
  • Monthly reporting of Metrics
  • Track number of travelers, trips, sales, expenses, reviews, incidents, staffing, etc.
  • Occasionally staff new trips, during peak season, or when we are in need of guides

Requirements:

  • Responding to new leads (phone & email) to help answer any questions about Under30Experiences products
  • Responding to current customers with questions about products they have purchased
  • Collecting and inputting customer information into trips for trip leaders to see and use
  • Working with the sales team to develop more efficient ways to respond and get customers information
  • Writing, formatting and sending customers pre-trip emails and information about their trip.
  • Working with the sales team to ensure customer information is correct and data is input correctly

FAQs & Notes:

  • Regional Manager has the option to live in the staff house full time or temporarily while looking for their own housing in Manuel Antonio
  • Under30Experiences is US based company and pays workers in Costa Rica as independent contractors in USD from our US account (bank fees may apply)
  • As a US-based company, Under30Experiences does not pay "Aguinaldo" and contractor will be responsible for paying the "caja" or for any "seguros" directly
  • Under30Experiences intends to pay our contractors well so they live comfortably and handle the above expenses with ease
  • Regional Manager should plan to lead trips to Mexico, Belize, Arenal, and Manuel Antonio all expenses paid by Under30Experiences
  • Under30Experiences often organizes team days with fun outdoor activities such as waterfall hikes, yoga, paddle boarding, etc., expenses paid by U30X
  • Under30Experiences plans retreats for employees and an occasional meeting in the United States, expenses paid by U30X
  • Under30Experiences offers all employees 50% off U30X trips

Measures of Success:

  • Number of successful trips in the region
  • Qualified pipeline of potential trip leaders
  • Level of Trip Leaders’ satisfaction with the management/training process
