Experiential Stories

The Story

I’m a firm believer in the saying “travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer.” As a 28 year old who lives in NYC and works in Finance, I can honestly say that travel has been the best investment I continue to make.

The idea of travel and learning a different culture has always appealed to me. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to fuel my passion over the years. I’ve done a few group trips with various tour companies. As a self-described “planner”, group travel has been how I let go of control, something I often struggle with in my day-to-day life.

I found Under30Experiences when I was looking for an Inca Trail Hike. To say that trip changed me is an understatement. Beyond the views, the friends I made, and the accomplishment of finishing the four-day hike, I realized I could unplug from everything, and it would be okay. And in this crazy, constantly connected world, that was a revelation.

When the Galapagos trip was announced, I booked it immediately. The trip was just as amazing as Peru, but completely different. Both were checking off top places on my bucket list, with an added bonus of meeting new people. In Peru, I spent most of my days hiking, seeing ruins I could hardly believe stood the test of time. And now I was snorkeling with sea turtles, looking for iguanas before every step, and swimming with sea lions. I can’t say that one was better than the other. They’re not even comparable. I am just grateful to have had the opportunity to experience both.

One thing stands out profoundly to me from traveling with Under30. On the first day of my Peru trip, my trip leader Jonno asked, “What do you want to get out of this trip?” No one had ever asked me this before. Sure I was asked, “Why are you going there?” but never what I hoped to gain from it.

Of course I wanted great stories and pictures to make my friends and family jealous. But I also wanted to slow down, lose myself in a new place and culture, and do something just for me. I happily give so much of myself to my friends and family, but at times I want to be selfish. Travel is the best gift I can give to myself.

After each trip, I try to put the experiences into words. I rarely can. I don’t feel like I’m doing it justice. Because it’s more than just a trip for me… It’s part of a longer journey of discovery – discovering myself, and the world, one piece at a time.

The wall opposite of my bed has a map with a pin for every country I’ve visited. Whenever I look at it, I am so fortunate to remember all of the places I’ve been, and all that I’ve learned. But what truly amazes me is all of the places I have left to go.

U30X is such an amazing travel community. Once your trip is over, the experience is not. They keep in touch with their alumni & provide platforms for travel questions, personal development, & community connections in your own backyard! If you're a young person looking to travel I highly recommend U30X!

There are not enough ways for me to describe how amazing this company is. After my first trip I always told people, it wasn't about the location, but the experience that u30x gave me. I have some of the best experiences of my life with u30x, and now a passion for travel. Also, their alumni community and groups are awesome too!

Traveling with U30X has been life changing for me. I've made lifelong friends with both travelers and staff. I can't come up with enough good things to say about the company, the people, and the experiences I've had!

Just returned from my second trip with Under30Experiences. My first trip was to the Costa Rica rainforest. My most recent trip was to Iceland. Both trips were such an amazing experience. I loved learning about Iceland and its origins. I enjoy the small groups and I made some great new friends! Recommend them for anyone wanting to travel alone or with a couple of friends.

I was so scared to travel abroad alone and then I came across their website and they made international travel so easy! And the people I’ve met on the trips are some amazing individuals! I’ve done 6 of their trips and plan on continuing to do even more!!

My Hike the Inca Trail trip was beyond amazing, and I couldn't have asked for anything more from a trip. Our leaders made us all feel instantly comfortable, and the group was fantastic. The trip was well planned and the hike was unforgettable. Memories to last a lifetime.
