Trip Overview

Day 1

Arrival in Guatemala

Welcome to Guatemala! Meet your fellow travelers at La Aurora International Airport, where you will depart to Antigua on private ground transportation.

Enjoy a free evening exploring the world's best-conserved colonial streets with your new friends. After a day of sightseeing, you will enjoy a delicious Guatemalan dinner with your group.

Day 2

Guatemalan Coffee Community and City Tour

Today, you will experience Guatemala's delightful export--coffee! You will first take a short hike up Volcán Agua. Then, you will visit a local farmer's house to learn the traditional way of roasting coffee.

In this unique cultural exchange, you will share a fresh cup of coffee with our Guatemalan hosts and support local farmers and artisans.

Antigua is a charming city surrounded by lush coffee plantations and majestic volcanos. Your Trip Leader will guide you through the city and show you why Antigua is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During your visit, you will explore Plaza Central and other historical sites.

Enjoy dinner and rest for tomorrow’s adventure.

Day 3

Pacaya Volcano Hike

Depart from your hotel in Antigua and take private transportation to the Pacaya Volcano. Pacaya is the most active volcano in Guatemala, standing 2500 meters (over 8,200 feet) above sea level.

Gaze out at the environment around the volcano, enjoying the views of this rocky, humid forest.

This experience is one of the most exciting things to do in Guatemala, as you can enjoy the impressive vistas of the lagoon of Calderas and three other volcanoes: Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango.

Take your time to admire the view and take photos. Start the descent and take the three-hour trip to Lake Atitlán when ready.

Day 4

Lake Atitlán: Boat tour to San Juan and Santiago

Explore Lake Atitlán, one of the most stunning lakes in the world. Watch the enchanting surroundings as you ride a boat and visit two indigenous Tz’utuhil villages.

Next, head to San Juan La Laguna to witness the traditional methods of dying thread with native Guatemalan plants at a women's weaving cooperative.

Afterward, take the boat to Santiago to visit the brotherhood of the local saint Maximón or Rilaj Maam. People of all different ethnicities come to Santiago to ask for health and prosperity. Regardless of your belief, make sure to enjoy this magical experience.

U30X Trip Reviews

"My friend and I agree that this is the best vacation we have ever been on and the best travel company we have ever experienced. There was not one moment of disappointment and I literally laughed until it hurt. Jonno ensured that everything we did was effortless and enjoyable. The accommodations were stellar, the staff was local, the excursions were unforgettable, and the other travelers enhanced the experience tenfold. I can't say enough good things. If you are even slightly considering traveling with this family of amazing people, do it." -Ana A.

"I truly amazing experience. I just came from the Costa Rica extended trip and loved every minute of it. Learning and experiencing the culture and meeting each individual really made an impact on my life. I went in to this hoping and expecting a lot (though I didn’t know what), and the entire experience exceeded all my expectations. The experiences on the trip were truly amazing, though the real satisfaction, for me, is the lasting impact each thing and person made in my life. I would be disappointed in myself if this were the last one I did." -Thomas A.

"I went on a trip to Belize with Under30Experiences 2 years ago and had an amazing experience! I got to experience a culture in the way that the locals do (because the Under30 team personally knows the locals!) and I also made life long friends. It is great for people that want to travel at an affordable rate and want to travel with others rather than do the solo thing! It also allows for you to take very minimal time of of work since most trips are over the weekend! I can't recommend this company enough. :) It's an amazing community to be a part of." -Brooke T.
