Have a question about the Under30Experiences Bali trip?

What kind of food can I expect in Bali?

The restaurants in Bali are known to be both incredibly delicious and healthy. If you've talked to someone who's been to Bali before, it's very likely they mentioned the food - it's that good.

You can expect a variety of healthy options with a lot of vegetarian choices.

*Meals can be catered to specific dietary restrictions.

What is the physical activity level of this trip?

Mount Batur is a challenging yet manageable (& remarkable) hike. On a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the most difficult, we would rate this hike at a 3.5-4. However, all you need is a comfortable pair of sneakers, a jacket for the top (since it does get cold at that elevation) and 2+ liters of water. We’ll take our time going up and returning back down with guides along the way to help us.

Depending on weather, we may also have the opportunity to do a river hike, which could include swimming against current and doing some light hiking.

How can I prevent Bali belly?

Bali Belly, or stomach discomfort, is very common. Be cautious and use hand sanitizer frequently, never use tap water to brush your teeth, and be careful not to get water in your mouth when showering, swimming, etc. Street food in Bali often doesn’t agree with Westerners, so if you want to sample the local food, it’s best to research first or ask your Trip Leader.

Do I need a Visa to enter Bali?

Yes, a visa is required to enter Indonesia and the island of Bali.

If you stay for less than 30 days, you will need the Visit Visa / Visa on Arrival type visa. This can be acquired at the Denpasar International Airport by queuing up at a Visa kiosk. Alternatively, you can apply online 14 days before traveling to Indonesia to quicken the process at Immigration.

The cost is 500,000 IDR or $35 USD. This fee can be paid by credit card or cash. American Express is not accepted.

What type of weather should I expect?

The average high temperature for Bali from June to August is 88 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and a low of 80 degrees Fahrenheit at night.

Bali's tropical monsoon climate has two distinct seasons: dry (between May to September) and wet (between October to April). The majority of our trips are during the dry season, but the more prepared you are for your trip the better.

The weather is significantly colder at the top of Mount Batur, so definitely pack a jacket, gloves and a hat in your day pack for that!

I understand that water is not safe to drink, but is the ice safe in Bali?

Yes. Ice is produced in the same factories where the water is filtered. Ice is then shipped to restaurants, shops, and local vendors. A common rule is only to drink ice that has a hole in the center.

What are the accommodations like? How do I request a roommate?

We stay in boutique accommodations nestled in the countryside just outside of Ubud. They are absolutely beautiful!

Solo travelers are paired with someone of the same gender.  You can request a friend to be your roommate upon checkout.

If you'd prefer not to have a roommate, private room options are available upon request, subject to hotel availability for an extra charge. Please contact bookings@under30experiences.com for more details.

How much should I budget for activities?

We've included many activities in the price of the trip giving you plenty to do. However, we pride ourselves in helping you make the trip perfect for you. Therefore we’ve sought out the best activities and vendors to help you have the experience you want.

And don’t worry, your trip leader can help set up any of the following optional activities for you so you can sit back and enjoy your trip.

Optional activities range from $10 for a yoga or meditation class to $40 for surfing lessons. Please see our "Trip Details" page for a complete list of optional activities!

Is tipping customary in Bali?

Tourism is one of Bali’s biggest economies so tipping is highly appreciated by service industry professionals. Most restaurants will build in a service fee into the bill, so please check your receipt before deciding to leave an additional tip.

If you participate in an optional activity that involves a local guides assistance, it is recommended that you tip your guide at the end of the activity.

When is the best time to visit Bali?

Our trips operate during the dry season (May - September) and also outside of the high peak season. We consider this to be the best time to visit Bali.

What type of luggage is best?

A rolling suitcase is perfect for this trip as we only stay in one accommodation the entire time. We do suggest that you bring a small backpack to use on day excursions and to carry your personal gear.

Do I need to bring an adapter?

Yes. Expect the 2 pin socket and plug as is found in Europe. The pins are round, not flat or rectangular.  Make sure your devices can handle 220 volts or bring a power converter.

Do you have last-minute deals?

Yes! When travelers take advantage of our “Switch Your Trip” program last minute slots open up on sold out trips. Visit our Trips On Sale page for the latest last-minute deals.

U30X is such an amazing travel community. Once your trip is over, the experience is not. They keep in touch with their alumni & provide platforms for travel questions, personal development, & community connections in your own backyard! If you're a young person looking to travel I highly recommend U30X!

There are not enough ways for me to describe how amazing this company is. After my first trip I always told people, it wasn't about the location, but the experience that u30x gave me. I have some of the best experiences of my life with u30x, and now a passion for travel. Also, their alumni community and groups are awesome too!

Traveling with U30X has been life changing for me. I've made lifelong friends with both travelers and staff. I can't come up with enough good things to say about the company, the people, and the experiences I've had!

Just returned from my second trip with Under30Experiences. My first trip was to the Costa Rica rainforest. My most recent trip was to Iceland. Both trips were such an amazing experience. I loved learning about Iceland and its origins. I enjoy the small groups and I made some great new friends! Recommend them for anyone wanting to travel alone or with a couple of friends.

I was so scared to travel abroad alone and then I came across their website and they made international travel so easy! And the people I’ve met on the trips are some amazing individuals! I’ve done 6 of their trips and plan on continuing to do even more!!

My Hike the Inca Trail trip was beyond amazing, and I couldn't have asked for anything more from a trip. Our leaders made us all feel instantly comfortable, and the group was fantastic. The trip was well planned and the hike was unforgettable. Memories to last a lifetime.
