Have a question about the Under30Experiences Spain trip?

What type of food will we be eating?

Expect to enjoy some of the most delicious food on the planet!

Of course, you'll get to try what Spain is most famous for, delicious tapas (small Spanish savory dishes)! It's also known for its delicious, fresh seafood.

Experience the local cuisine like patatas bravas, croquetas, tortillas to gambas al ajillo (prawns with garlic and olive oil), and pulpo a la gallega (octopus)!

If you have any diet restrictions or allergies, we’ll do our best to arrange a special menu for you since we want everyone to be well-fed.

Please be aware that vegetarianism and veganism in Spain is not as common as it might be in your home country and choices in restaurants are very limited and will be basic. Expect your options to include soups, salads, cheese, yogurt, and fruits.

Those who are vegan or on gluten-free diets may find this region very challenging and we recommend you bring your own snacks from supermarkets or local markets.

What are the accommodations like?

You will be staying in small boutique hotels that are all located in the city center. It'll be a short walk to the main landmarks and be immersed as much as possible in the Spanish lifestyle.

Accommodations are double occupancy. Solo travelers will be paired with someone of the same gender.

You can request a friend to be your roommate upon checkout.

If you'd prefer not to have a roommate, private room options are available upon request, subject to hotel availability for an extra charge. Please contact bookings@under30experiences.com for more details.

What is the physical level of this Spain trip?

Moderate - This trip is a good mix of activity and relaxation and includes moderate physical activities.

Participants should expect to be active 3-4 hours most days. An active lifestyle is helpful though not required to enjoy the trip.

Can I opt out of an included activity?

Of course! This trip is your trip, and you don’t have to participate in anything you don’t want to. We also can help you set up other optional activities if you'd rather do that.

Just be aware that opting out of included activities will not change the price of your trip.

How much time do we spend in Barcelona and Madrid?

On Day 1, after airport pick up you will spend part of the morning, the whole afternoon, and evening in Barcelona. This will be your chance to explore this beautiful city and to visit some important landmarks.

On Day 7, you’ll arrive in Madrid around 11:00am. This will  give you the whole day to visit the Spanish capital.

If you’d like to fully immerse yourself in these two beautiful cities, we recommend you arrive a few days before the trip or to extend your trip.

Where is Andalusia?

Andalusia is in Southern Spain and is one of the autonomous communities of Spain.

Andalusia is the second largest autonomous community of the country and it is also the most populated. The capital is Seville and yes you’ll have the chance to explore that beautiful city!

What types of transportation will we be using?

You’ll be in private and comfortable vehicles for drives from Granada to Seville and for our day trip to Cadiz.

In Madrid and Barcelona, expect to use public transportation (bus, subway, and cabs). We think that this is the best way for you to experience Spain like a local!

On Day 2, you will be flying from Barcelona to Granada. Your flight is included in your trip and includes (1) checked bag on Vueling. The weight allowance is 23kg (50lbs). Each traveler is responsible for any fees associated with bags being overweight when checking in at the airport.

On Day 7, you will be taking the high speed train to connect Seville to Madrid.

What is the luggage allowance on the domestic flight from Barcelona to Granada?

The luggage allowance is one check bag of 44lbs (20kg) and one carry-on weighing 15lbs (7kg)

When is the best time to visit Spain?

April, May, September, and October are the best months to visit Spain, especially Andalusia. Temperatures at this time of the year are getting warm and the months of September and October are also still warm and less crowded.

July & August are very hot with lots of crowds and that’s why we don’t operate trips in Southern Spain during this time of the year.

What type of luggage is best?

The lighter the better! If you only have a rolling suitcase that will work, but if you can get your hands on a more mobile bag, like a large backpack, that would be better. We take all forms of transportation and some guesthouses and hotels don’t have elevators.

You'll also want a daypack for your personal gear, food, and drinks for the day.

Is there laundry available?

Laundry will be available in some hotels for an additional fee (ask your trip leader for details).

Which ticket should I book to visit the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and the Alhambra in Granada?

Sagrada Familia: We recommend purchasing the "Sagrada Familia basic ticket" if you’d like to explore this beautiful monument at your own pace. For a few euros more you can get the audio guide if you’d like to learn more about the Basilica and its history.

There is also a ticket that gives you access to one of the towers of the Basilica where you can have a nice view of Barcelona. Make sure to book your ticket several weeks in advance as tickets get sold out quickly! We recommend you to arrive a few days early in Barcelona to take advantage of everything the city has to offer!

Alhambra Palace: We recommend booking the "General Day Tour" on Day 3 for 8:30 am or 9:00 am. The earliest the better to avoid the crowds. Again, make sure to book your ticket several weeks in advance as tickets get sold out very quickly! If you’re unable to book your ticket, please get in touch with us and we’ll do our best to help out!

Can we use our credit cards in Spain?

Credit cards are widely accepted by stores, hotels and restaurants in Spain. However, smaller cafes and shops may not accept credit cards so make sure you carry enough cash to cover small purchases. Please let your bank know you’re traveling overseas.

Can I drink the water in Spain?

It is safe to drink water from taps in Spain, unless otherwise marked. However the water from taps may have a funny taste and restaurants will always service bottled water. For environmental reasons, we recommend you use a refillable water bottle instead of buying bottled water.

U30X is such an amazing travel community. Once your trip is over, the experience is not. They keep in touch with their alumni & provide platforms for travel questions, personal development, & community connections in your own backyard! If you're a young person looking to travel I highly recommend U30X!

There are not enough ways for me to describe how amazing this company is. After my first trip I always told people, it wasn't about the location, but the experience that u30x gave me. I have some of the best experiences of my life with u30x, and now a passion for travel. Also, their alumni community and groups are awesome too!

Traveling with U30X has been life changing for me. I've made lifelong friends with both travelers and staff. I can't come up with enough good things to say about the company, the people, and the experiences I've had!

Just returned from my second trip with Under30Experiences. My first trip was to the Costa Rica rainforest. My most recent trip was to Iceland. Both trips were such an amazing experience. I loved learning about Iceland and its origins. I enjoy the small groups and I made some great new friends! Recommend them for anyone wanting to travel alone or with a couple of friends.

I was so scared to travel abroad alone and then I came across their website and they made international travel so easy! And the people I’ve met on the trips are some amazing individuals! I’ve done 6 of their trips and plan on continuing to do even more!!

My Hike the Inca Trail trip was beyond amazing, and I couldn't have asked for anything more from a trip. Our leaders made us all feel instantly comfortable, and the group was fantastic. The trip was well planned and the hike was unforgettable. Memories to last a lifetime.
