Have a question about the Under30Experiences Belize trip?

What are the accommodations like?

You will stay in boutique hotel rooms for the duration of your trip. Solo travelers are paired with someone of the same gender.

You can request a friend to be your roommate upon checkout. If you'd prefer not to have a roommate, private room options are available upon request, subject to hotel availability for an extra charge.

Please contact bookings@under30experiences.com for more details.

Is laundry available?

Laundry is available at the hotel for an additional fee. Ask your Trip Leader for details

What type of wildlife can I see in Belize?

We can’t guarantee wildlife sightings, but the most commonly seen wildlife are iguanas, turtles, sharks, dolphins, manatees.

What type of luggage is best?

We recommend using a backpack for your convenience, or a medium-sized suitcase if you prefer.

A daypack is also essential for carrying everyday items.

Space is limited on our transportation, so there is a limit of one main piece of luggage per person. You will be responsible for carrying your own luggage.

Are the outlets compatible with American plugs, or should we bring adaptors?

Belize uses 110-volt, 60-cycle electricity, just like in the US.
Plugs are typically the 2 pronged flat types so US travelers will not typically need a converter or adapter.

Can I drink the water?

Tap water is not safe to drink. There will be potable water to drink in the hotel.
We encourage our travelers to travel sustainably. Please bring a reusable water bottle.

What kind of food can I expect in Belize?

Belizean food is Caribbean style with influencers from indigenous, African, and European cultures.   Seafood in Belize is usually right off the boat.
Be sure to try Belizean lobster, ceviche, and hot sauce on Caye Caulker.
Because English is the official language of Belize it is easier to communicate gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, or vegan requests than in many other countries.

What type of weather should I expect?

The average temperature in Caye Caulker, Belize is 74-84 degrees Fahrenheit.
Dry season: November - April. Rainfall is scarce. Known as the high season with many tourists.
Rainy season: June - October. Expect showers and thunderstorms most days that pass through.

What type of transportation will we be taking?

Airport pickup and dropoff will be in private ground transportation to the ferry dock, approximately fifteen minutes from the airport.  We will travel for about 45 minutes to Caye Caulker by water taxi on a 35-foot powerboat.
If you think you may get seasick, we recommend you bring medication or natural wristbands for motion sickness.

What is the physical activity level of this trip?

This trip is relaxing and includes light activities with optional moderate activities. Participants can decide how much time they spend being active. No physical preparation is required to make the most of the experience.

What activities are optional? And how much do they cost?

We’ve included many activities in the price of the trip giving you plenty to do. However, we pride ourselves in helping you make the trip perfect for you. Therefore we’ve sought out the best activities and vendors to help you have the experience you want.

Can I opt out of an included activity?

Of course! This trip is your trip, and you don’t have to participate in anything you don’t want to. Just be aware that opting out of included activities will not change the price of your trip.

What is the nightlife like?

In Belize, you can find mainly beach bars with strong cocktails and island vibes. Be sure to visit The Split and have a beer while floating in the sea, or play bags with an epic sunset view.

There is also plenty of nightlife on Caye Caulker within walking distance from the hotel. You will find live music, DJs, and dancing.

Please drink responsibly.  Boat rides are especially painful with a hangover!

What languages are spoken in Belize?

The official language in Belize is English but Spanish & Creole are also spoken.
One of the best things about traveling to Belize is hearing the locals speak in an intriguing combination of all three.

Is tipping customary in Belize?

Tipping is not expected though it is greatly appreciated, especially since tourism and hospitality are one of the leading industries in Belize.
Adding 10% gratuity at restaurants, local guides, and drivers is a suitable tip.

How much should I budget for food and activities?

It will be helpful to have at least $300 USD cash in local currency on you during the trip for lunches, snacks, optional activities, souvenirs, etc.
Please be advised that slightly torn, heavily marked, or faded notes may be difficult to exchange.
It is best to bring notes in fairly good condition, in denominations lower than $100 USD (or equivalent).

Do I need to worry about a visa?

When traveling with a passport, citizens of the United States, Canada, and most Latin American and European countries are entitled to stay in Belize for 90 days. They must enter the country with a departure ticket and a valid passport that does not expire within 30 days of their arrival in Belize.

U30X is such an amazing travel community. Once your trip is over, the experience is not. They keep in touch with their alumni & provide platforms for travel questions, personal development, & community connections in your own backyard! If you're a young person looking to travel I highly recommend U30X!

There are not enough ways for me to describe how amazing this company is. After my first trip I always told people, it wasn't about the location, but the experience that u30x gave me. I have some of the best experiences of my life with u30x, and now a passion for travel. Also, their alumni community and groups are awesome too!

Traveling with U30X has been life changing for me. I've made lifelong friends with both travelers and staff. I can't come up with enough good things to say about the company, the people, and the experiences I've had!

Just returned from my second trip with Under30Experiences. My first trip was to the Costa Rica rainforest. My most recent trip was to Iceland. Both trips were such an amazing experience. I loved learning about Iceland and its origins. I enjoy the small groups and I made some great new friends! Recommend them for anyone wanting to travel alone or with a couple of friends.

I was so scared to travel abroad alone and then I came across their website and they made international travel so easy! And the people I’ve met on the trips are some amazing individuals! I’ve done 6 of their trips and plan on continuing to do even more!!

My Hike the Inca Trail trip was beyond amazing, and I couldn't have asked for anything more from a trip. Our leaders made us all feel instantly comfortable, and the group was fantastic. The trip was well planned and the hike was unforgettable. Memories to last a lifetime.
