Trip Overview

Day 1

Halló Reykjavik!

Arrive at Keflavik Airport (KEF) before 7:00 AM and take the included transportation to Reykjavik, Iceland's capital city.

Meet fellow hikers for breakfast and then warm up the legs with a sightseeing stroll around Reykjavik, the world's northernmost capital city.

Depart Reykjavik for your Icelandic basecamp and prepare for your epic adventure through breathtaking wilderness over the next five days.

In the afternoon, debrief with your expert guides about how best to organize your gear and equipment, and learn about what to expect over the next week.

Day 2

Begin the Trek

After a big Icelandic breakfast, hop in a Super Jeep! Ride in style past waterfalls, mossy green mountains, and black sand dunes up into the highlands where the adventure really begins.

On our first day of hiking, get your feet wet and get your first taste of the Icelandic Highlands. Literally! Cross a few rivers, and fill your bottles with fresh Icelandic water.

Get a sense of the dramatic Icelandic landscape during our shortest day of hiking. When we arrive at our site, you'll learn how to set up & break down camp, as well as some important Leave-No-Trace policies.

Once you've made camp, come together with your new hiking buddies to prepare your first dinner in nature!

Day 3

Hike Volcanic Deserts & Canyons

Step out of your tent and straight into the pure Icelandic Wilderness. Fuel up with some coffee and breakfast and you'll experience how everything tastes better in the mountains!

Continue through spectacular, colorful scenery: black sand, white glaciers, green mountains, orange canyons (for real). Pop over a mountain pass, and into the vast valley below. Breathe in the fresh air and connect with nature!

Traverse what feels like multiple planets -- none of them being earth -- on the home stretch toward camp. After setting up, enjoy the reward of a delicious dinner and take an optional hike for more mind-blowing scenery.

Day 4

Cross Into Icelandic Forests

Pick up where we left off yesterday and explore what feels like moons from different planets as we make our way toward Þórsmörk, the Valley of Thor!

Cruise through moss-covered lava fields toward the looming glacier in the distance. Take the bridge over the gushing, silver river and spot the ashy glacial tongue through the deep, red canyon.

If crossing the solar system in a day isn't enough for you, just wait until we descend into the Icelandic forests that feel like they came straight out of a fairy tale.

Enjoy a hearty dinner in this stunning valley that you'll get to call home for two nights.

Day 5

Relax In The Valley of Thor

Today we chill! You've earned it!

Surrounded by glaciers, volcanoes, and the rare Icelandic forest, take advantage of a perfectly timed day to relax and recharge. And maybe take a moment to just be.

There are plenty of short trails around Þórsmörk, so feel free to move your legs a bit and explore the lush green forests of Thor's Valley.

Rest up! Tomorrow is a big day!

Day 6

Hike Between Glaciers and Volcanoes

Finish strong with the most challenging day of our trek: the Fimmvörðuháls Trail. Climb up-up-up out of the valley and between the glaciers Eyjafjallajökull and Myrdalsjökull, both of which lie on top of powerful volcanoes

Stop for a bite to eat on a mountain that is literally only 8 years old - created during an eruption in 2010. Then, follow a trail with more than 20 waterfalls! It's impossible to stop and marvel at them all. Slowly re-enter society as we descend toward Skogafoss, one of Iceland's most iconic waterfalls.

Celebrate your epic accomplishment back at Base Camp with a rooftop drink in a hot tub with a view of the glacier you just conquered. Oh and did someone say shower?!

Day 7

Depart South Iceland in the morning and take included transportation to Keflavik International Airport (KEF) for your flight departing after 3:00 PM.

If you wish to go to the Blue Lagoon instead, we strongly recommend you book your tickets online for after 1:00 PM as pre-booking is required.

Welcome to the Under30Experiences Community!

U30X is such an amazing travel community. Once your trip is over, the experience is not. They keep in touch with their alumni & provide platforms for travel questions, personal development, & community connections in your own backyard! If you're a young person looking to travel I highly recommend U30X!

There are not enough ways for me to describe how amazing this company is. After my first trip I always told people, it wasn't about the location, but the experience that u30x gave me. I have some of the best experiences of my life with u30x, and now a passion for travel. Also, their alumni community and groups are awesome too!

Traveling with U30X has been life changing for me. I've made lifelong friends with both travelers and staff. I can't come up with enough good things to say about the company, the people, and the experiences I've had!

Just returned from my second trip with Under30Experiences. My first trip was to the Costa Rica rainforest. My most recent trip was to Iceland. Both trips were such an amazing experience. I loved learning about Iceland and its origins. I enjoy the small groups and I made some great new friends! Recommend them for anyone wanting to travel alone or with a couple of friends.

I was so scared to travel abroad alone and then I came across their website and they made international travel so easy! And the people I’ve met on the trips are some amazing individuals! I’ve done 6 of their trips and plan on continuing to do even more!!

My Hike the Inca Trail trip was beyond amazing, and I couldn't have asked for anything more from a trip. Our leaders made us all feel instantly comfortable, and the group was fantastic. The trip was well planned and the hike was unforgettable. Memories to last a lifetime.
