- Travelers can apply and obtain the E-visa in advance and the application can be processed through the official Vietnam Immigration website.
- The E-Visa is valid for up to 30 consecutive days. It’s the equivalent of a visa, but no stamps or labels are placed in the passport. The travelers with e-Visa can touch down at any of Vietnam’s international airports, including Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh city, Noi Bai in Hanoi and Danang in the central region.
- The online application could be done 1-6 months before entering Vietnam. The processing time takes 2–3 working days. We recommend applying at least 30 days in advance to avoid unexpected problems.
- The E-visa fee for a single entry is $25 USD
2) In person, at the Vietnamese Embassy in the United States

Yes, however please be respectful and not overly aggressive. Bargaining for lower prices with the shop vendors can be exhilarating and lots of fun, plus a whole new style of shopping for many of us.
During the included bike rides there will always be a backup vehicle. Either a van or tuk tuk will be available if travelers don’t want to bike or get tired of biking.
It should be noted that the bike rides in Vietnam will be on mostly flat roads and the bike rides in Cambodia are on dirt roads that can be challenging.
The flight duration is a little more than 1 hour on a scheduled flight. Seating will be randomly assigned by the airline.
The ice is safe at restaurants, hotels and coffee shops. The majority of street vendors purchase their ice from the same suppliers as the hotels do, however, their sanitation practices are not as strict.
Your Trip Leaders will help you assess whether you can trust the ice from the street vendor or not. Water is not potable at the hotels but it is safe to brush your teeth with.
The luggage allowance is one 20 kg (44 lbs) check bag and one 7 kg (15 lbs) carry-on bag, plus a personal item.
You will have a chance to shower at the accommodation before driving to the airport (~4-hour drive). There will be a short stop along the drive for a meal and a drink, otherwise not much activity to get you sweaty.
A majority of the included meals will be local style, set menus. This is considered family style and is a common way that Vietnamese and Cambodians eat when dining out. Occasionally we will have an included meal that offers international cuisine.
For non-included meals, you will be able to find multiple international cuisines to select from. Both Vietnam and Cambodia were once colonized by the French and these cuisines still have an influence on the restaurant scene.
We recommend $300 USD in cash.
You will have to exchange USD into Vietnamese Dong but in Cambodia, USD is used in most places. If you are eating local cuisine expect meals to range from $2-4 per individual dish: noodle soups, fried rice, spicy salads. If you choose to eat international cuisine the price will increase with some meals costing as much as $10 for pasta or steaks.
Travelers are responsible for 8 lunches and 3 dinners during the duration of the trip. Optional activities range from a cost of $40 (Evening Scooter Tour in Saigon) to $10 (Rehash Trash workshop).
Breakfasts will be served at your hotel. Dinners will be enjoyed in local restaurants or at your hotel.
Sample Breakfast Menu:
Fried/boiled eggs or omelet, toast, cheese, fresh milk, fruit, coffee, tea, local dessert.
Sample Lunch Menu:
Local seafood and chicken, vegetable soup, steamed rice, dessert.
Sample Dinner Menu:
Pork, seafood, chicken, fried or fresh spring rolls, stir-fried vegetables, traditional dessert, tea or coffee.
We do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions. Most meals can be modified for special requests and food allergies.
Tipping is not necessary but it is appreciated. For group meals, you are not expected to tip as Under30Experiences will cover this. When dining on your own, 10% is a reasonable tip.
Of course, if you want to give more it will be greatly appreciated. If you would like to tip the housekeeping or hotel staff when checking out, we recommend that you offer the money to the reception staff.
Most hotels have a common share box for tips and this will ensure it is spread among the hotel’s team. If you feel a guide or activity supplier has gone above their expectations then a tip of $5 is normal for a multiple hour activity to the guide.
Both Ho Chi Minh City and Siem Reap are modern cities with multiple options for nightlife from dance clubs to music venues and of course night markets all around.
In Ho Chi Minh City, most locals will hang out at the local green areas in the city and along the river. Here you will find small vendors selling cold drinks and grilled seafood and meats.
Siem Reap has a street called Pub Street that is dedicated to bars and dance clubs. This area can get pretty wild. However, there are smaller venues to simply relax and listen to music or take a walk through night markets for shopping.
When our itinerary brings us to the quieter countryside of the Mekong Delta (Vietnam) and Battambang town (Cambodia), embrace the simple side of the country and relax at night with conversations with your new friends.
Yes. Credit Cards are accepted in both Vietnam and Cambodia. However, there is usually a limit of $10-15 USD along with a transaction fee applied. Small markets and street food vendors will only accept cash.
The best time to visit Vietnam is spring (February to April) and autumn (August to October). The temperatures are more moderate and rainfall is lighter.
In spring, March and April have the lowest rainfall across all destinations and temperatures are pleasant, though still cool in the far north.
Most travelers visit Cambodia from November to March. If you prefer to dodge the crowds and go when prices are lower, the best time to visit Cambodia is from May to early October. Cambodia is warm year-round with temperatures rarely dipping below 68°F (20°C), wherever you go. Seasons are broken into wet and dry season.
The lighter the better! If you only have a rolling suitcase that will work, but if you can get your hands on a more mobile bag, like a large backpack, that would be better.
We take all forms of transportation and the pavement on the roads can be covered with potholes. You'll also want a daypack for your personal gear, food, and drinks for the day.
An auto rickshaw is a motorized development of the traditional pulled rickshaw or cycle rickshaw. Most have three wheels and do not tilt.
An exception is in Cambodia, where two different types of vehicles are called tuk tuks, one of which has four wheels and is composed of a motorcycle and trailer.
Yes, especially if you have a severe allergy.
Peanuts are everywhere in SE Asia. Cross contamination is an issue as restaurants may only have one or two main woks, particularly street food vendors, so multiple dishes are usually cooked on the same frying pan without a proper wash in between.

U30X is such an amazing travel community. Once your trip is over, the experience is not. They keep in touch with their alumni & provide platforms for travel questions, personal development, & community connections in your own backyard! If you're a young person looking to travel I highly recommend U30X!
There are not enough ways for me to describe how amazing this company is. After my first trip I always told people, it wasn't about the location, but the experience that u30x gave me. I have some of the best experiences of my life with u30x, and now a passion for travel. Also, their alumni community and groups are awesome too!
Traveling with U30X has been life changing for me. I've made lifelong friends with both travelers and staff. I can't come up with enough good things to say about the company, the people, and the experiences I've had!
Just returned from my second trip with Under30Experiences. My first trip was to the Costa Rica rainforest. My most recent trip was to Iceland. Both trips were such an amazing experience. I loved learning about Iceland and its origins. I enjoy the small groups and I made some great new friends! Recommend them for anyone wanting to travel alone or with a couple of friends.
I was so scared to travel abroad alone and then I came across their website and they made international travel so easy! And the people I’ve met on the trips are some amazing individuals! I’ve done 6 of their trips and plan on continuing to do even more!!
My Hike the Inca Trail trip was beyond amazing, and I couldn't have asked for anything more from a trip. Our leaders made us all feel instantly comfortable, and the group was fantastic. The trip was well planned and the hike was unforgettable. Memories to last a lifetime.
