Alaska Full Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to Alaska

Morning

  • Meet your Trip Leader at 8:00 a.m at the designated meeting point in Anchorage to start your scenic drive to Denali National Park, home to the tallest mountain peak in North America.

Afternoon

  • After lunch, spend the afternoon hiking Horseshoe Lake Trail, a 2.2-mile easy hike around the lake and the river.

Evening

  • End your first evening in Alaska by soaking up the midnight sun.
  • Settle in to your hotel and enjoy dinner with your new friends.

Day 2

Denali National Park

Morning

  • After breakfast, learn about the world-famous Itidarod race, the grit it takes to be a competitive musher, and most importantly, meet the stars of the show, the sledding dogs.
  • Then, drive deep into Denali National Park on an 8-hour excursion into the interior of this massive national park. You will be using a public park shuttle, as cars are not allowed into the park.
  • Get off the beaten path along a narrow dirt road and keep your eyes peeled for Denali's one-of-a-kind wildlife: wolves and moose and grizzly bears, oh my! Learn how the intense seasons of Alaska affect the resilient wildlife along with the unique flora and fauna.

Afternoon

  • There will be time for a short hike at the Eielson Visitor Center, and if the weather cooperates, we'll get amazing views of North America's largest peak from here. If you want to top off the day, take the local bus to 49th State Brewing in Healy, where you can take photos with the infamous bus from Into the Wild

Evening

  • Enjoy dinner and settle into your hotel after another great day of adventures in Alaska.

Day 3

Hello Seward

Morning

  • Say farewell to the legendary Denali National Park and head south along a breathtaking roadway towards Seward, the gateway of the Kenai Peninsula.
  • Today’s drive will be longer in length (around six hours), but we make several stops along the way to break up the drive through this beautiful state.

Afternoon

  • Stop along the way to stretch your legs on the one-mile Byron Glacier trail containing epic views of the ice fields, rugged cliffs, and the remote backcountry.

Evening

  • With nothing but endless daylight ahead, arrive in Seward and take a stroll along the waterfront. This charming seaside village offers picturesque views of Resurrection Bay.
  • Want to extend your night? Hit the town and join some of the local fishermen at one of the nearby watering holes.

Day 4

Exit Glacier & Kenai Fjords National Park

Morning

  • Today we will visit Kenai Fjords. Starting at the Exit Glacier section near Seward, we will have the option to do a variety of hikes.

Afternoon

  • Take a break to refuel with some lunch before returning to the trails!
  • For travelers looking for a challenge, you can hike above the tree-line all the way to the top to get stunning views of Exit Glacier and the Harding Icefield. The icefield stretches to the horizon and is one of the most awe-inspiring views you will ever lay eyes on. On your way back down the mountain, keep your eyes open for marmots, mountain goats, and of course, bears!

Evening

  • Enjoy this evening any way you’d like! Ask your Trip Leader for recommendations of restaurants to try, shops to check out, or take it easy and relax in your hotel room.

Day 5

Wildlife Cruise

Morning

  • On your final day in Seward, embark on an included wildlife cruise. This cruise, narrated by a National Park Ranger, journeys through Resurrection Bay, out into the Gulf of Alaska, and then into one of the many nearby fjords. Along the way, we will try to spot whales, orcas, sea otters, and other marine life--not to mention the occasional bear lingering on a beach or mountain goat high in the surrounding cliffs.

Afternoon

  • As we move through the fjords we'll stop near one of the many glaciers and get a chance to view the continual calving of ice. Sections of glaciers, often the size of houses, fall hundreds of feet, crashing into the ocean. The power and scale of glaciers in Alaska make for a tremendous sight!

Evening

  • After returning from your wildlife cruise, celebrate your last night together in Alaska by sampling some excellent local seafood.

Day 6

Girdwood & Departure

Morning

  • It's not goodbye, it's see you later, especially now that Alaska has surely stolen your heart. Don't worry, things aren't quite over yet. As your group heads north, stop at Alyeska Ski Resort for lunch and a relaxing stroll through the spruce trees.

Afternoon

  • Arrive in Anchorage by mid-afternoon to head home or stick around to explore some of the kitschy shops and restaurants of Alaska's biggest city.
  • Flying? Plan to depart after 6:00 p.m.

U30X is such an amazing travel community. Once your trip is over, the experience is not. They keep in touch with their alumni & provide platforms for travel questions, personal development, & community connections in your own backyard! If you're a young person looking to travel I highly recommend U30X!

There are not enough ways for me to describe how amazing this company is. After my first trip I always told people, it wasn't about the location, but the experience that u30x gave me. I have some of the best experiences of my life with u30x, and now a passion for travel. Also, their alumni community and groups are awesome too!

Traveling with U30X has been life changing for me. I've made lifelong friends with both travelers and staff. I can't come up with enough good things to say about the company, the people, and the experiences I've had!

Just returned from my second trip with Under30Experiences. My first trip was to the Costa Rica rainforest. My most recent trip was to Iceland. Both trips were such an amazing experience. I loved learning about Iceland and its origins. I enjoy the small groups and I made some great new friends! Recommend them for anyone wanting to travel alone or with a couple of friends.

I was so scared to travel abroad alone and then I came across their website and they made international travel so easy! And the people I’ve met on the trips are some amazing individuals! I’ve done 6 of their trips and plan on continuing to do even more!!

My Hike the Inca Trail trip was beyond amazing, and I couldn't have asked for anything more from a trip. Our leaders made us all feel instantly comfortable, and the group was fantastic. The trip was well planned and the hike was unforgettable. Memories to last a lifetime.
