Portland & Acadia

Day 1

Welcome to Portland, Maine!


  • Arrive at your designated meeting point in Portland, Maine at 8:00 am where your Trip Leader will greet you.
  • Take included transportation to Camden, Maine. Along the way, stretch your legs with a walking tour and explore Camden Harbor Park as well as High Street Historic District.


  • Enjoy lunch in Camden before arriving at your campsite and setting up your home away from home. 


  • Set up camp, then head to Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse.
  • Stop in the small, quaint town of Southwest Harbor on the way for photos.
  • Enjoy a short hike and watch the sunset at this famous lighthouse.
  • Once the sun is down, return to camp for the first night’s dinner as a group under the stars.

Day 2

Acadia National Park


  • Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and breakfast at camp.
  • Embark on Beehive Loop trail and test your limits as you traverse this exhilarating trail, complete with iron rungs, ladders, and handrails assisting you along the granite cliffs. 


  • Spend some free time in the town of Bar Harbor to explore your surroundings and grab a bite to eat for lunch.
  • Take a late afternoon walk along the Ocean Path trail and get up close and personal with the ocean as you enjoy the sea breeze on your face.


  • Return to camp and cook a fresh fish dinner around the fire as a group.
  • Enjoy the sounds of nature as you take a much-deserved rest in your tent.

Day 3

Sunrise and Kayaking


  • Wake up before dawn and head out Cadillac Mountain for sunrise. Be one of the first people in the country to feel the sun’s rays that morning as it rises on the eastern horizon.
  • Make your way back to camp to fuel up with breakfast and coffee.


  • Now it is time to explore Acadia National Park by water! Board your kayak, paddle along the coastline, and admire your pristine surroundings.
  • If you’re feeling up to it, squeeze in one last hike in the park and savor these last moments in the fresh New England air. 


  • Return to your home away from home and enjoy your final meal cooked at camp and reminisce on your experiences in Acadia.

Day 4



  • Enjoy your final breakfast surrounded by trees and take included transportation back to Portland, Maine.
  • Arrive in Portland in time for lunch and to explore the Old Port area.  Maybe sample a beer with your new friends at one of Portland’s many breweries.  
  • Continue your journey back to our ending point in Portland and say your final goodbyes to your new friends before making your own way to the airport to catch your flight home departing after 4:00 pm or extend your stay in Portland.
  • Ask your Trip Leader for suggestions if you choose to spend more time in Portland or the surrounding areas.

Just returned from my second trip with Under30Experiences. My first trip was to the Costa Rica rainforest. My most recent trip was to Iceland. Both trips were such an amazing experience. I loved learning about Iceland and its origins. I enjoy the small groups and I made some great new friends! Recommend them for anyone wanting to travel alone or with a couple of friends.

I was so scared to travel abroad alone and then I came across their website and they made international travel so easy! And the people I’ve met on the trips are some amazing individuals! I’ve done 6 of their trips and plan on continuing to do even more!!

My Hike the Inca Trail trip was beyond amazing, and I couldn't have asked for anything more from a trip. Our leaders made us all feel instantly comfortable, and the group was fantastic. The trip was well planned and the hike was unforgettable. Memories to last a lifetime.
