Spain Trip Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Barcelona

We recommend booking pre-trip accommodations if you'd like to fully immerse yourself in this vibrant city.

  • Arrive at Barcelona El Prat International Airport (BCN) before 10:00 am.
  • Your Trip Leader will meet you at Barcelona Airport and take you to your hotel located in the city center of Barcelona with your new group of friends.
  • Visit all the important sights and neighborhoods Barcelona has to offer. The Gothic Quarter, Las Ramblas, Gaudi’s architecture, pass by La Sagrada Familia and then hit the beach. 
  • Relax at the hotel, or take a walking tour through more of Barcelona's famous sights with your Trip Leader.
  • Enjoy a delicious Spanish meal at our opening dinner.
  • Get to know the other like-minded travelers on the trip and begin to settle into Spain.

Day 2

Explore Granada

  • Wake up and take an included early morning flight from Barcelona to Granada (~1.5 hour flight)
  • Have a late lunch with the group in a Moorish themed restaurant.
  • Explore the Moroccan souks 'markets', the city center, The Jewish Quarter, and other highlights of the city.
  • Go on a Night Adventure Tour with a local guide to explore the hidden gems around Granada.
  • Hike to the outskirts of Granada, explore hidden caves, and experience the off the beaten path wonders of this city.

Day 3

Granada Immersion

  • Wake up in the beautiful city of Granada and enjoy an authentic Spanish breakfast.
  • If you wish to visit the Alhambra, we recommend you book your ticket for the morning to avoid the crowd.
    Tickets must be booked online ahead of time on the Official Ticket Sale website
  • Explore The Albaycin neighborhood. Enjoy the urban hike up to el Mirador de San Nicolas to get a panoramic view of The Alhambra Palace and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
  • Meander through the streets of the city and get fully immersed in Granada’s rich history and culture.
  • Spend the day exploring Granada with your Trip Leader or enjoy some free time to relax in this historic city.
  • Dinner is served very late in Spanish culture, so enjoy a “merienda”, the traditional afternoon snack, usually consisting of delicious local pastries.
  • Dinner is not included tonight but your Trip Leader will provide you with our favorite recommendations.

Day 4

Experience Seville

  • Wake up in Granada and get ready for your new home base: Seville!
  • Spend the day exploring this beautiful city by foot or by bike.
  • Stop by Triana and the river, pass through the park, and spend some time in Plaza de España which is one of the most stunning squares in the world.
  • Check out the Alcazar, the Cathedral of Seville and the Giralda Bell Tower from the outside. 
  • Watch a flamenco show and understand how this dance became a folk music tradition of Southern Spain.
  • Enjoy a late tapas dinner with your new friends and try the regional drink 'tinto de verano' in one of the best terraces of the city. 

Day 5

Explore the Real Alcazar

  • Wake up in Seville and start your day exploring the Palace of Alcazar, a beautiful royal palace still being used today.
  • Enjoy various optional activities for the rest of the day or wander around the marvelous streets of Seville.
    Suggestions: Choose to attend a Tile workshop; enter the Cathedral of Seville; explore Italica, an ancient Roman city.
  • Enjoy a delicious dinner in Seville and explore the neighborhood of Alameda. (Not included)

Day 6

Cadiz Beach Day

  • Depart for Cadiz, also known as the City of Lights thanks to its many hours of sunlight! (~1.5 hour drive)
  • Cadiz is a historically significant port that connected to the New World after the decline of Seville. It is also where the new Spanish Constitution of 1812 was signed.
  • After exploring the colonial heart of Cadiz, enjoy lunch at the local food market and indulge in fresh seafood caught only hours ago!
  • Take the afternoon to relax at the beautiful La Caleta Beach.
  • Visit the Castle of San Sebastian and/or the Castle of Santa Catalina.
  • After a day at the beach, head back to Seville.
  • Once you recharged at your hotel, head out and watch the sunset at an amazing viewpoint of the city.
  • Lastly, enjoy your last dinner together in Andalucia.

Day 7

Discover Madrid

  • Take an included early morning high speed train from Seville to Madrid (~2.5-hour train ride)
  • Explore the beautiful capital of Spain with your Trip Leader.
  • Don't miss Gran Via, La Puerta del Sol, Mercado de San Miguel, the Royal Palace, El Templo de Debod to name a few.
  • Visit El Retiro Park and the museum district.
  • Enjoy your last dinner in Spain with your new friends and experience the nightlife of Madrid.

Day 8

Relaxation & Departure

  • On the final day of our adventure, wake up early to soak in the last morning in Spain together.
  • Say goodbye to your new friends and depart at any time of the day with instructions from your Trip Leader on how to take taxis, buses, or local transportation to the airport.
  • Be sure to ask your trip leaders for suggestions on what to do if you chose to spend more time in Madrid.

My Hike the Inca Trail trip was beyond amazing, and I couldn't have asked for anything more from a trip. Our leaders made us all feel instantly comfortable, and the group was fantastic. The trip was well planned and the hike was unforgettable. Memories to last a lifetime.
