Bali Trip Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome to Bali!

Morning / Afternoon:

  • Arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) by 2:00 p.m, where your Trip Leader will greet you.
  • Take a private shuttle from the airport to your hotel in the heart of Ubud, Bali's cultural and artistic capital. (~1.5 hours) 
  • After settling into your hotel, meet with your new friends as your Trip Leader lays out the plan for an exciting week ahead.

Evening:

  • Enjoy your opening dinner at a local restaurant with your group and get to know the other travelers on your trip.

Day 2

Ubud Explorations

Morning:

  • Start your day off with freshly brewed Indonesian coffee at the hotel.
  • Begin your tour with a visit to the Ubud Palace, a historical complex dating back to the 1800s. Be sure to check out the intricate carvings and beautiful courtyards. You’ll find some worthy Instagram-friendly backgrounds here!
  • Later in the morning, walk through the Sangeh Monkey Forest. Explore old temples within the forest while keeping your eyes out for the resident monkeys, who are usually ready for a photo-op.

Afternoon:

  • Enjoy lunch with a view of Tegalalang’s serene rice fields at Tis Cafe. Your Trip Leader will organize a set menu with juice included. However, you can always order your own smoothies or tropical drinks.
  • Tryone of Ubud’s famous swings at the cafe or sit in a bird’s nest, another Instagram-worthy spot!
  • After lunch, head to Gunung Kawi Sebatu, a temple dedicated to Vishnu, the god of water. During your visit, you can participate in a Balinese purification ceremony in the temple's bathing pools.

Evening:

  • Gather with your new friends for an included dinner in a local restaurant in downtown Ubud.
  • After dinner, explore more of Ubud's nightlife or return to the hotel.

Day 3

Experience Balinese Culture

Morning:

  • After breakfast, it’s time to meet your local hosts for the day, who will take you through the Ganyar market. 
  • Enter a Balinese home to understand how every detail of a traditional compound pays respect to their gods and ancestors.
  • Participate in a cooking class where you will use the produce bought earlier at the market to create delicious, home-cooked Balinese dishes.

Afternoon:

  • After eating your home-cooked meal, your hosts will teach you how to make Balinese offerings and the significance of this daily practice.
  • Take a short walk into the jungle (~30 minutes) to the village’s holy waters, where you can participate in a private purification ceremony.
  • Say goodbye to your hosts, and return to the hotel.

Evening:

  • Dinner is not included tonight, making it a perfect opportunity to try local favorites. Your Trip Leader can share some of the best places to check out and suggest some dishes.
  • Be sure to get an early night’s rest for tomorrow’s pre-dawn hike.

Day 4

Mount Batur Sunrise Hike

Morning:

  • We realize your alarm is going off while it’s still dark, but trust us, the reward is worth it. Grab your boxed breakfast from the hotel before getting into the vans.
  • Drive to the base of Mount Batur, where your hike will begin. Meet your local guides and follow the trailas you ascend to the top of a volcano! (~1.5 hour hike).
  • Upon reaching the summit, your Trip Leader will set up an area for you to enjoy breakfast and a hot cup of tea or coffee as you take in the sunrise. If conditions are right, this will be one of the most magical and rewarding sunrises you’ll ever experience.
  • Descend the volcano and take in the stunning scenery along the way.
  • Return to the hotel and get some rest.

Afternoon:

  • Lunch is not included, but don’t worry; Ubud is home to many boutique cafes for you to choose from.
  • This afternoon is a free day of leisure and optional activities.
  • Suggested activities include but are not limited to a yoga or meditation class at the Yoga Barn, a visit to Tegenungan waterfalls, a countryside bicycling tour, visiting art galleries, or pampering yourself at the spa.

Evening:

  • Meet back with the group after your day of explorations or leisure activities for an included group dinner in a local restaurant in the heart of Ubud.

Day 5

Gili Islands Getaway

Morning:

  • Enjoy your final breakfast in Ubud at the accommodation. Then begin your journey to Gili Trawangan, the ultimate island paradise.
  • First, transfer by private vehicles to Padang Bai. (~1.5 hour drive) 
  • Arrive at the pier, then board a boat to the island. (~2 hours)

Afternoon:

  • Upon arrival, head to your accommodation for the next two nights. Settle in with a welcome drink and learn about the lay of the land from your Trip Leader.
  • Enjoy the free afternoon to rest and relax on the beach, soaking in the chill vibes of this former fisherman’s village.

Evening:

  • Join your group for a beach BBQ of fresh fish, meats, and various fruits and vegetables.
  • Explore the island's nightlife or find a quiet zone to continue soaking in the island's beauty.

Day 6

Snorkeling around the Gili Islands

Morning / Afternoon:

  • Breakfast will be served at the accommodation.
  • Today, you will spend most of the day on a private boat while cruising around the three Gili islands, stopping at snorkeling spots to explore the underwater mysteries and coral gardens.
  • You can spot a submerged Buddha statue at one of the snorkeling spots!
  • Lunch will be served on Gili Air, one of the islands. This is an included lunch as a part of this activity.
  • In the late afternoon, return to Gili Trawangan and enjoy leisure time for the rest of the day.

Evening:

  • Dinner is not included for this evening, but your Trip Leader will be able to suggest the best spots to dine and enjoy the nightlife.

Day 7

SUP Yoga & Sanur

Morning:

  • Participate in a sunrise Stand-Up Paddle Board experience. If you are feeling adventurous, try SUP yoga!
  • This is also a perfect time to enjoy the calmness of the beach, as most people are still asleep.
  • The morning is yours to enjoy as you please. So soak up the last sun rays or take one last dip in the blue waters of the sea.

Afternoon:

  • Grab an early lunch (not included), then board your boat around 1:00 p.m for the journey back to the mainland of Bali. You will depart at Padang Bai. (~ 2 hours)
  • Transfer to Sanur , your final destination in Bali. (~1.5 hour drive)
  • Check into your accommodations and have some downtime before this evening’s final dinner.

Evening:

  • Walk along the Sanur promenade with your new friends, taking in this beach destination's laid-back and chilled atmosphere.
  • Gather with your new friends for one final dinner together as you share stories of your trip

Day 8

Relaxation & Departure

Morning:

  • Relax at the accommodations or head into town for last-minute shopping.
  • If time permits, squeeze in one last optional activity.
  • Check out of your hotel and take included transportation to Ngurah Rai International Airport, where you will arrive at 12:00 p.m.
  • Say your final farewells to your new friends before catching a flight back home or extending your travels in Indonesia.
