Mexico & Belize Trip Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Belize

  • The Under30Experiences team will meet you at the airport and guide you to our safe, comfortable, air-conditioned transportation from Belize City to the ferry dock for our boat to the beautiful island of Caye Caulker
  • Enjoy the scenic 45 minute water taxi to Caye Caulker as you glide across crystal blue water and gaze at other small islands in the distance
  • ‍**If your flight is delayed and you miss the shuttle* You are responsible for your own transportation.  Find a licensed taxi to drive you to the ferry dock and take your first ferry to Caye Caulker. In Belize, a GREEN license plate means the vehicle is a licensed taxi.  Expect a $25 taxi fare and $15 ferry.
  • **If your flight is delayed and you miss the 5:30PM Ferry* Please take the 8AM San Pedro Express Water Taxi from Belize City to Caye Caulker.  We suggest staying the night at the Radisson Fort George for a safe room close to the ferry.  For a more upscale resort the Radisson is an option.  Expect a ~$25USD taxi fare, $15 ferry and hotel stay.  Your travel insurance may reimburse you.
  • After getting settled into your hotel that is just steps away from the ocean, take a stroll around the beautiful island of Caye Caulker and catch your first Belizean sunset
  • Enjoy your first dinner on the island at a local restaurant steps away from your hotel
  • Rest after a day of travel or hit the town for a local beer (Belikan) or cocktail

Day 2

Snorkeling Trip

  • Wake up to watch the sunrise (optional) over the ocean which can be seen from the hotel
  • Enjoy a delicious breakfast at Amor y Cafe, a local restaurant a short walk from the hotel
  • Gear up for a day of exploration at sea as you prepare to snorkel the most famous marine reserve in the country
  • Snorkel Hol Chan Marine Reserve, the second largest barrier reef, shark and ray alley, and MORE
  • Have lunch right on the boat with your new friends and keep your eyes peeled for even more marine life
  • Take a scenic boat ride back to the island and maybe even enjoy some local rum punch
  • Relax after a day at sea or head down to the Lazy Lizard for sunset and happy hour
  • Enjoy a Caribbean dinner at a local restaurant and maybe even try the famous hot sauce
  • Hit the town for a night out or relax poolside at your hotel and stargaze with friends

Day 3

Cave Tubing on Sinbun River

  • Have breakfast at a local restaurant and maybe grab a coffee from Ice & Beans, the local coffee house on the island
  • Prepare for another adventure as you will be floating underground on the Sinbun River. (45-min boat ride to Belize City; 1.5 hour ground transportation to cave tubing site)
  • Get ready to enter the exciting world of rivers disappearing into the underworld as you float on inner tubes with only your headlamp to light your way. 
  • Your local guide will walk you down our jungle track, pointing out the various medicinal trees and other flora, before splashing into the cool, easy flowing waters of the Sibun branch. (Lunch is included)
  • Back in Caye Caulker, enjoy some downtime to relax at the beach or go explore more of Caye Caulker before dinner.
  • Watch the sunset at the Lazy Lizard while you play Bags with each other (or locals), or hang out poolside at the hotel
  • Have dinner at a different local restaurant and try fresh seafood or some more Caribbean dishes
  • Hit the town for another night out, hang at the pool, or stargaze on an ocean dock

Day 4

Explore Caye Caulker

  • Enjoy your first Belizean sunrise, or sleep in after a fun night out – it's your trip
  • Eat a delicious breakfast at a local restaurant and then relax in the island
  • Rent a bike to explore the island ot get a beachfront massage to relax
  • Have lunch at the Palapa Bar where you can hang out on inner tubes floating on the crystal blue water – and yes, you can even drink beers right from the inner tubes
  • Rent a bike, golf cart, or just stroll around the town and explore San Pedro
  • Shop for souvenirs, visit the local shops on the island, or rent jet skis!
  • Watch the sunset on the other side of the island or go out for a happy hour drink (or both)
  • Enjoy another delicious dinner at a local restaurant
  • Spend your last night going out in the town or relax at the hotel as you reflect on the week's adventures

Day 5

Depart for Tulum, Mexico

  • Catch your last possible sunrise before eating a delicious breakfast and reminiscing about your time on this incredible island
  • Check out of your ocean view hotel and take a scenic 45 minute boat ride to San Pedro, followed by a 90 minute boat ride to Chetumal, Mexico
  • After getting your Mexico stamp, you'll be driven in safe, comfortable, air-conditioned van to the hip, beautiful, and artsy town of Tulum (apx. 3 hour drive)
  • Enjoy your first Mexican tacos in Bacalar, Mexico before your 3 hour bus ride to Tulum
  • Arrive at your boutique hotel in the heart of the city and get settled in
  • Explore the town and get acclimated to your new home for the next 5 days
  • Catch a 2x1 happy hour or hang out poolside at the hotel
  • Enjoy a delicious Mexican dinner at a local restaurant as you begin to really get the flavor of Mexico
  • Sip on some mezcal, hit the town for live music, or head back to the hotel and take it easy

Day 6

Laguna Monkey Reserve & Coba Ruins

  • Enjoy your first Azteca breakfast in the popular Don Cafeto, and prepare for a day of adventure
  • First, explore Punta Laguna Monkey Reserve, an off-the-beaten-path experience
  • See monkeys in their natural habitat while you take a guided tour through the beautiful jungle
  • Experience an authentic Mayan Ceremony performed by a local Shaman (keep an eye out for monkeys and cougars)
  • Admire the spectacular views over the Yucatan jungle and cross a Mayan Lagoon by canoe or zipline, depending on the weather.
  • Finally, rappel down into a dark and closed ancient cenote celebrated by Mayans as gates to the underworld
  • Enjoy lunch in Coba city as you fuel up for more Mayan Ruins
  • Explore Coba Archaeological Site & Sanctuary by bike and climb one of the tallest Mayan pyramids on the Yucatan Peninsula
  • Hit the beach or town for sunset and happy hour, or hang by the pool
  • Enjoy a delicious Mexican dinner at a nearby restaurant and then go listen to live music, or head back to the hotel for an early night

Day 7

Experience Chichen Itza

  • Ready for the Mayan breakfast at Don Cafeto? What about exploring one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Chichen Itza (apx. 3 hour drive)
  • Get to know the ancient Mayan history, culture, and amazing architecture.
  • Have a delicious lunch in the colonial town of Valladolid before cooling off in a local cenote.
  • Hit the beach or town for sunset and happy hour, or hang by the pool
  • Enjoy a delicious Mexican meal in town before listening to live music and enjoying some of the best mojitos in the world!

Day 8

Beach Day & Secret Cenotes

  • Try some new options for breakfast at Don Cafeto
  • Swim in the turquoise blue ocean while staring at the ruins – the only place in the world where this is possible
  • Take a break while you enjoy a delicious Mexican lunch before gearing up for your next adventure
  • Next, it's time to plunge into cenotes, the "gates of the underworld" according to Mayans
  • Swim in sacred cenotes and explore this hidden underground world as you dive into underground caves and see what UNESCO calls some of the world's most important underwater heritage sites
  • Take a taxi to the beach or town for sunset and happy hour, or hang by the pool
  • Enjoy a delicious Mexican dinner at a nearby restaurant and then hit the town for some live music, or head back to the hotel and relax

Day 9

Relaxation & Departure

  • Enjoy your last breakfast in Mexico and as you reminisce on your 9 day adventure with your new friends
  • Be driven back to Cancun International Airport for your flight departing after 2:00 PM
  • Be sure to exchange information with your new friends and welcome to our close-knit travel community

We recommend booking post-trip accommodations if you'd like to fully immerse yourself in Cancun's vibrant atmosphere.
