Enjoy local French cuisine – and arguably some of the best food on the planet.
Burgundy is probably the best region of France to get a real taste for French Gastronomy and drink delicious wine – and that's exactly where we're staying.
Expect to eat snails, chicken, beef, duck in red or white wine sauce, paté, and a lot of cheese! A Chef will be preparing dinners and give you a cooking class to teach you the best recipes of this beautiful region!
Burgundy or ‘Bourgogne-France-Comte’ is one of the 18 regions of France located on the eastern part of the country.
The region is divided into 8 departments and you’ll be staying in the department of ‘Côte d’Or’ which means ‘The Golden Slope’.
Burgundy is famous for having rich gastronomy but also for being a premier and very important wine region. ‘Côte d’Or’ is without a doubt the department where you can find the finest and most expensive Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines of the world.
Paris: stay in small boutique hotels that are centrally located. They are just a short walk to the main landmarks.
Burgundy: stay in a private house for only your group. Fancy, right? The house is located in a very small village in Burgundy, a 30-minute drive from Beaune. We think it’s the best way for the group to connect with each other and be immersed in the quiet and beautiful French countryside.
Both accommodations in Paris and Burgundy will have two beds per room. In Burgundy, some rooms are bigger and can accommodate 3 people in the same room.
Solo travelers will be paired with a roommate of the same gender.
You can request a friend to be your roommate upon checkout.
If you'd prefer not to have a roommate, private room options are available upon request, subject to hotel availability for an extra charge. Please contact email@example.com for more details.
Moderate - This trip is relaxing and includes light activities with optional moderate activities. Participants can decide how much time they spend being active. No physical preparation is required to make the most of the experience.
It’s always a good time to visit France! France has a temperate climate with cold winters and warm summers. Expect tourist spots to be crowded during Easter, Christmas, and the months of July and August.
Paris is one of the top 3 most visited cities in the world so be prepared to share this beautiful city with many other people. However, you will enjoy less crowds in Burgundy.
Drinking water from taps is considered safe in France, unless otherwise marked. For environmental reasons, we recommend you to use a refillable water bottle rather than buying bottled water.
Of course! This trip is your trip, and you don’t have to participate in anything you don’t want to. Just be aware that opting out of included activities will not change the price of your trip.
On Day 1, you’ll have a guided walking tour with your trip leader and have the afternoon free if you wish to visit museums or neighborhoods such as Montmartre or Champs Elysées. You’ll also have the afternoon free on Day 5.
If you’d like to enjoy more of Paris, we recommend you arrive a few days before the trip or extend your trip.
If you have any diet restrictions or allergies, we’ll do our best to arrange a special menu for you as we want everyone to be well-fed!
Please be aware that vegetarianism in France is not as common as it might be in your home country. Choices in restaurants are very limited like soups, salads, cheese, yogurt, fruits.
Those who are vegan or on gluten-free diets may find this region very challenging and if you fall under this category we recommend you bring your own snacks.
Our Chef in Burgundy can offer vegetarian or vegan options only if diet restrictions have been communicated in advance.
Depending on which time of the year you’re traveling to France, you may pack differently. May-June are usually warm but nights can be chilly.
Please refer to our packing list for more suggestions.
The lighter the better! If you only have a roller suitcase that will work, but if you can get your hands on a more mobile bag that would be better. We take all forms of transportation and some guesthouses and hotels don’t have an elevator.
You'll also want a daypack for your personal gear, food, and drinks for the day. The size of the daypack depends on how much stuff you want to take with you every day.
You will be staying in a very remote village in the French countryside from day 2 - day 4. There will be no ATMs during this time. However, on Day 3 you’ll be able to find ATMs while visiting Beaune after the wine tasting. In Paris and any other major city or town, you can find ATMs easily.
Credit cards are widely accepted by stores, hotels, and restaurants in France. However, smaller cafes and shops may not accept credit cards so make sure you carry enough cash to cover small purchases. Please let your bank know you’re traveling overseas.
U30X is such an amazing travel community. Once your trip is over, the experience is not. They keep in touch with their alumni & provide platforms for travel questions, personal development, & community connections in your own backyard! If you're a young person looking to travel I highly recommend U30X!
There are not enough ways for me to describe how amazing this company is. After my first trip I always told people, it wasn't about the location, but the experience that u30x gave me. I have some of the best experiences of my life with u30x, and now a passion for travel. Also, their alumni community and groups are awesome too!
Traveling with U30X has been life changing for me. I've made lifelong friends with both travelers and staff. I can't come up with enough good things to say about the company, the people, and the experiences I've had!
Just returned from my second trip with Under30Experiences. My first trip was to the Costa Rica rainforest. My most recent trip was to Iceland. Both trips were such an amazing experience. I loved learning about Iceland and its origins. I enjoy the small groups and I made some great new friends! Recommend them for anyone wanting to travel alone or with a couple of friends.
I was so scared to travel abroad alone and then I came across their website and they made international travel so easy! And the people I’ve met on the trips are some amazing individuals! I’ve done 6 of their trips and plan on continuing to do even more!!
My Hike the Inca Trail trip was beyond amazing, and I couldn't have asked for anything more from a trip. Our leaders made us all feel instantly comfortable, and the group was fantastic. The trip was well planned and the hike was unforgettable. Memories to last a lifetime.
